   we stayed in a youth hostel when we went on a school trip.

   I would recomend to visit the official web of the city of Cologne. There you can find a lot of information and also a complete list of all hotels, hostels etc. there, you can see and book under "HRS" acomodations under special price. Here is the web site adreess:
